Tom Bailey

Ex-Bramhall players, Tom and James Bailey, will be performing with their fellow band members at the Annual Dinner Dance at the Deanwater Hotel on Saturday 8th October. The brothers, with Tom on lead vocals, and James on keyboard form part of the Live-Cover band ‘Undercover’ – playing classic hits from across the decades at a wide range of celebrations, charity events and festivals. You can read all about the band’s success on their website, www.undercoverlive.co.uk

‘Undercover’ will be providing excellent entertainment for all attendees, along with magician Jake Barlow. The guest speaker on the night will be Lucy Pearson – twice England Women’s Cricketer of the Year and Head of Cheadle Hulme School. The dance is a black tie occasion for all club members, their families and friends (16 yrs old and over) and will be held from 6.45pm till late. It will be a great event to celebrate our 125th Anniversary Season and our October Club of the Month award, which is why we urge you to act in the next few days and book!

Bramhall CC 125th 2011 Anniversary Year

Dear Members,

We are fast approaching the major cricket celebrations of our 125th anniversary and I would like to update you on the events planned for the Cricket Week starting July 3rd.

Firstly, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the Cricket Force initiative in April, whether that was running 5K in Bramhall Park, donating sponsorship or labouring at the club. The improved club facilities including the new Pergola area were a direct result of the 100+ members who got involved, which is a 150% increase on previous years. The run raised £2,100, with a donation being made to Bramhall Park, £350 to Sumner CC a Christchurch based club affected by the earthquake and the rest to support the new BCC facilities.

Since then we have had the double act of John Stanworth from Lancs and Terry Daniels opening the new net facilities followed by an enjoyable golf day at Styal. Meanwhile, the cricket season is in full flow and all our teams have plenty to play for.

Cricket Week

Sun, July 3rd BCC Past and Present X1s, 12.30pm start

Mon, July 4th BCC u13s v Cheshire u12s, 2020, 6pm start

Tues, July 5th BCC u23s v Cheshire Development X1, 1pm start

Wed, July 6th BCC u15s/16s v Cheshire District u15s 2020, 6pm start

Thurs, July 7th BCC X1 v MCC X1, 11.30am start

Fri, July 8th Celebrity 2020 game in support of Christies, 4.30 start

A broad cross-section of the club will be involved in these high-profile games but some additional matches are being arranged for later in the season (eg. Junior Trios, u16s, over 40s), so no one will miss out. No doubt players past and present, families and friends will attend the specific matches they are involved in but I would encourage everyone to come and watch some of the other matches as there will be great cricket on show and it’s a chance to mix with other club members and guests. The final Christies game will be an exciting evening with ex international cricketers playing alongside ex Premiership and international footballers and the occasional Soap Star for good measure. We may not have the floodlights but it will be all action at Church Lane that night with barbecues, bars and entertainment in full flow.

So there is something for everyone in Cricket Week, whether you are a player or spectator. But as you can imagine and as we know from Cricket Force, these kind of events do not ‘just magically run themselves’. So, we would really appreciate some help and in no particular order:

Playing – while we will try to get most people involved, we will not be able to satisfy everyone and so please take this in good spirit.

Umpires and Scorers – we will use a combination of BCC club and league officials but if anyone has any particular requests, let me know.

Catering – Sun (for spectators), Mon, Wed and Fri we will be in barbi mode, Sun (players), Tues, Thurs will be more formal cricket teas so welcome volunteers for wearing chefs hat, catering, providing refreshments plus loan of extra barbecues and gazebos.

Bar – welcome volunteers to help on the main bar and also a second bar that we will be running on the Fri night. Also anyone who can help Iain Tittle on supplies transport. Spare fridge / freezers, large ice bucket storage.

Car Park Management – Nick Daber will lead this but he will need some helpers on the Fri night. Does anyone have high visibility bibs / jackets?

Cleaning – we will be using our normal cleaners but with the ground in constant use across the wicket, extra help in and outside the pavilion would be great and obviously saves the club money.

Ground – Craggie will obviously lead the ground team but support in this area whether it be grass cutting / half time wicket prep by senior members or covers / ropes by juniors would be great.

Security & First Aid

Publicity – distributing Christie game posters locally including Bramhall village shops.

Sponsorship – the Christies game has been kindly sponsored by MCR courtesy of Phil Duffy but if anyone individually or through their company would like to sponsor the individual games and / or match balls they would be most welcome.

Weather – can anyone fix this?!

Volunteers re the above and Sponsorship Support – the key to making the cricket week run smoothly and without it becoming a burden on a few people is for a large number of people to do a bit. So, if you can flip burgers, serve behind the bar, direct cars for an hour or indulge players and guests with your catering, it will make for what I am sure will be an enjoyable week. In the first instance, please contact myself directly to let me know what and on which day you can help or if you want to ask any questions ianmilligan62@tiscali.co.uk 07946 110953

That just leaves me to remind you that the finale to our 125th season will be our end of year dinner dance, being held this year at The Deanwater Hotel on 8th October. So please make a note in your diaries and we will forward final details of the event re guest speaker, band, etc shortly.

On behalf of Bramhall CC, we look forward to welcoming you over the Cricket Week and appreciate the anticipated offers of support.

Many Thanks

Bramhall CC 125th Committee
